Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Workforce Enhancement Scholarship

Program Overview

The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) offers a limited number of service scholarships to radiologic technology students in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing program in the School of Health Related Professions who wish to become imaging technologists in qualifying positions at UMMC. Note: Students enrolled in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program are eligible to apply within their first or second year in the program.

Application Dates:

Applications must be submitted by the following dates for consideration.

  • Summer Semester - May 1 to June 15
  • Fall Semester - July 15 to September 1
  • Spring Semester - December 1 to January 20

Awards are made by selection criteria/committee, as funding is available. Priority is given to eligible renewal Applicants.

Eligibility Requirements

Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements.

  1. Recipient must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
  2. Recipient must apply and receive the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Workforce Enhancement Scholarship; and
  3. Recipient must agree to a service commitment of one-year for each semester that the scholarship award is accepted and received by Recipient. The service commitment begins no later than thirty (30) days after graduation from the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program.
  4. Recipient must meet any and all selection criteria deemed appropriate by the Radiologic Sciences scholarship selection committee. Not all applicants will be awarded due to number of scholarship offerings (fund availability) each semester

Award Amount

The Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Workforce Enhancement Scholarship awards tuition charged by the institution for participation in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program. 

Recipient must:

  1. Recipient must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center;
  2. Apply for, be awarded, and accept the scholarship;
  3. Maintain full-time enrollment in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center;
  4. Maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled in the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center;
  5. Seek and obtain employment with UMMC in a full-time qualifying i position (qualifying positions will be determined by UMMC health system leadership at the time of application);
  6. Satisfy all UMMC pre-employment qualifications, and maintain one year of full-time employment in a full-time qualifying position at UMMC for each semester that the scholarship award is accepted and received by Recipient;
  7. Complete the ninety (90) day orientation period required for the full-time qualifying position with UMMC prior to the beginning of the commitment period;
  8. Within ten (10) days of completing the ninety (90) day orientation period and annually thereafter, until the commitment period has been completed, the Recipient will provide the Office of Student Financial Services via email to acct-studentsloans@umc.edu with written verification of full-time UMMC employment in a qualifying position; and
  9. Satisfy all required UMMC pre-employment qualifications and successfully begin employment in full-time qualifying position no later than thirty (30) days after graduation from the Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing Program.

How to Apply

Complete the online application. The online application must be completed each and every academic semester for which the Applicant seeks this scholarship.

If Recipient meets the eligibility criteria, funding is available, and meets selection criteria, the Recipient will receive a link from ECSI through Recipient's UMMC email, which will route Recipient to the contract for Recipient's review. If Recipient chooses to accept the award, they must:

  1. sign the contract in ECSI, and
  2. accept the award in Workday. Scholarships will be awarded on a semester by semester basis.
